A.G.M - submitted on 06-02-2008Submitted by - Mark Norman Web-site - submitted on 25-01-2008After spending a long time looking at this web site and how static it has been, I approached the committee to find out what there intensions are for the web site, The committee have committed to keep it running and would like to make some changes over time. However they didn’t know of anyone that could do this for them, (I should learn when to keep my mouth shout) Joking aside. The committee have asked me to take on this job, I do plan over time to revamp the current site but the first step is to start getting the site updated with current information. I have started with the Forum, for a club of around 230 members we have 3646 registered uses on the forum, in order to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I have removed the forum and load a more secure version in its place. Unfortunately you will have to reregister yourselves, However this will give me the chance to keep our house in order and keep the forum for our members, I will authorize club members only. Submitted by Mark Norman - webmaster Web-Site - submitted on 25-01-2008I hope to start posting competition results soon and other items. Submitted by Jim Pennington - Handicap Convenor Open - submitted on 16-07-2006Any members who can help in any way for the Troon St. Meddans Open should make themselves known to the committee. Principally we are short of sponsors and this could make some difference to the dynamics of the day. Help will be required for box duties on the day as well and anyone willing to put some time into the club for these duties will be rewarded with at least a bacon roll (and a few less worries about the ballot). Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Web-site - submitted on 15-07-2006The web-site should be back up, I know a couple of features are a bit lacking at the moment (what's new I hear), notably the feedback option and the counter will not always work, but I think most features have been ironed out, the handicap calcualtor certainly works as does most other stuff. Any issues let me know on the e-mail adress at the bottom of the page. Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Volvo Tournament - submitted on 08-06-2006As part of Saturday's medal there is a £100 prize sponsored by Volvo and an opportunity for qualification to a regional final. In order to take part in this you must fill in an additional scorecard this Saturday. It sounds like a hassle, but if we don't get 60 scorecards handed in then we will not be able to give out the £100 prize. This could be going to one of your golfing group, so do the right thing and take a couple of extra moments to fill in these cards. Submitted by Jim Pennington - Handicap Convenor Club Champs 2006 - submitted on 08-06-2006Final qualifiers for the club championship are shown below, please signal your intentions to play at the clubhouse. Submitted by Jim Pennington - Handicap Convenor Results / News - submitted on 10-11-2005Apologies for the long delay in updating the site. I'm without internet connection at the moment and am just sneaking phone lines when I can. Hopefully I can find some sort of fix for this during the holiday from university in January, we'll see. Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Winter adjustment of handicaps - submitted on 09-11-2005Members should note that handicaps will be adjusted in line with sgu reccomendations during competitions in which members are lifting from fairways and placing in the rough. A css will be calculated for each competition and handicaps will be adjusted downwards at the committees discretion using clause 19. There will be no upwards adjustment during these competitions. It may well be the case that a member is one or two shots below the css and does not get their handicap adjusted. Members should feel free to contact the handicap convener if they wish a downwards adjustment . Members playing in the monthly medal will have their handicaps adjusted normally as these competitions are to be played with the fairways in use. Submitted by Jim Pennington - Handicap Convenor Winter fairway protection rule - submitted on 13-10-2005Once again this rule will be in operation this year from november to the end of march. This has proved to be successful in improving the condition of the fairways and all members are required to comply with it. The yellow stakes will be in place on the 1st november and during all competition play (with the exception of the monthly medal and team matches) members will comply with this rule. Between tee and red or yellow stake - You must lift your ball from the fairway and place it in the rough, no nearer the hole, at the side of the fairway that your ball is nearest to. Members are not to place the ball in a hazard. Between stake and green - The ball is to be played as it lies from the fairway. (please remember that preferred lies are in operation) Monthly medals - Ball to be played as it lies on the fairway ( with preferred lies). Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Preferred Lies - submitted on 13-10-2005Preferred lies will begin as of the first of November, the first medal with preferred lies will be on the 5th of November Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain End of Season Prizes - submitted on 13-10-2005Could all prizewinners from 2004 please return any trophies that need to come back to the club for the annual prizegiving. Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Smoker / Prizegiving - submitted on 13-10-2005The sign-up list for the Annual Smoker / Prizegiving will be up at the golf club as of this weekend. This year there will be limited numbers as we will be returning to the South Beach Hotel, so please sign up as soon as possible at the golf club. Remember this event is included within your annual subs so if you wish to use it then get along and sign up. This year's speaker is Tony Higgins from the PFA (Professional Soccer Association for those of us who are that little bit less uncouth). It should be a great event and remember it is not just for those who have won prizes. Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Jim's Holiday - submitted on 13-10-2005I WILL BE ON HOLIDAY OVER THE NEXT WEEK THEREFORE RESULTS FROM 09H OCTOBER 2005 WILL BE POSTED AFTER I RETURN. THE FINAL PLACINGS IN THE SCRATCH COMPETITION WILL BE POSTED DURING WEEK COMMENCING 17TH OCTOBER 2005. Submitted by Jim Pennington - Handicap Convenor Scratch Player of the Year - submitted on 05-10-2005Results have now been updated and include the final results of this years Scratch Player of the Year. Congratulations to Ross Milligan for taking the title, with a very fine effort by Alec Walker to take second. Warren will be slightly disappointed to trail in third, however breaking his hoodoo in the club championship should more than make up for this, well done to all. Final Scratch Player of the Year 2005 Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Gordon Moncrieff - submitted on 23-09-2005Unfortunately one of our members Gordon Moncrieff collapsed on Monday (12th Sept) and died Wednesday afternoon (14th Sept). Gordon was in his late thirties, married with a very young family. He was a very active member of the club and it is with deep sadness that we announce his passing. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathy are extended to his wife and family. - Graeme Hope Gordon's funeral was held at the Troon Old Parish church on Wednesday the 21st of September. From my own experience of Gordon he was a great bloke always happy to chat and loved his golf, he will be sorely missed in the club and around Troon. Submitted by Andrew Kerr - Captain Note from Secretary - submitted on 23-09-2005Graeme Hope has recently announced that he will be retiring from the secretary's post and the general committee with effect from the A.G.M. in February 2006. I quote from Graeme: Whilst I have enjoyed my stint assisting in the running of the club, I feel it is time to pass the baton on. I would like to express my appreciation to all members of the committee, both past and present, particularly to David Hay and Jim Pennington, both of whom carry out critical roles within the club and do not receive the credit they are due. I also wish the club and its committee every success for the future. Clearly what this means to the club is that there is a void in the daily administration and larger matters that Graeme deals with and an opportunity for someone to step into his role. We are listening for anyone interested to come forward as soon as possible as Graeme has kindly said that he will allow any applicants to shadow his role. Submitted by Graeme Hope - Secretary Note from webmaster - submitted on 23-09-2005My sincere apologies for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks, since moving to university I have found an internet connection very difficult to come by. Hopefully this situation will be rectified soon. The results have been updated for the last few weeks and a couple of news items have been added.
