It goes without saying that it’s an absolute privilege to be appointed Captain of St. Meddans, something that I didn't see coming when I joined the club 11 years ago, I will endeavour to do my utmost to ensure that the recent trend of growing numbers and popularity for our friendly wee club, that’s not so wee any more, continues to thrive.

For the first time in the club’s history, the club capped the membership last year, and after admitting the waiting list we have again capped the membership at 300 members for this year's season.

Being involved in the committee from the outset has helped me to get to get to grips on how the club is run, as well as having the responsibilities of running our Open and Jubilee competitions has helped me get to know a lot of members who have subsequently become good friends, something that the club is renowned for.

As a club, we play our competitions three times a week, twelve months of the year alternating weekly, from Darley, with its tight fairways, punishing heather and gorse, to Lochgreen, a longer challenge with it’s 5 par 5’s with its slightly more forgiving set up.

St. Meddans has attracted golfers of all abilities and ages over the years, and continues this trend today, we have a healthy competitiveness in all team matches, what with the Scratch, handicap and Senior teams, alongside the numerous competitions run throughout the Summer and Winter months, there is always something to play for.

Can I thank you for your continued membership and wish you well for the forthcoming season.
